Maintaining your health requires you to be steadily fastidious. You must avoid certain foods, and increase your intake of others. Additionally, remaining physically active and reducing vice intake is very wise. Fruits, Vegetables, Vitamins, and Apple Cider Vinegar

So we all know fruits and veggies have high quotients of vitamin C, as well as other specific qualities which recommend them as healthy. Traditionally, vitamin D only comes from the sun; but it can be purchased in concentrated form at the grocery store. This one comes as a bit of a surprise to some, but others are familiar with “clearing their sinuses”, as they might call it. Cayenne pepper, horseradish, and garlic can all help during the flu. Certain spicy peppers and onions are also recommendable; but you’ve got to be careful. Just because there are a lot of Scoville Units associated with a pepper doesn’t mean it’ll help you prevent the flu any better. Sometimes all that extra spice actually taxes your body’s immune system, or can induce some form of allergic response. The goal is to support the immune system, not tax it. So know your limits.

Regular Exercise

Find a way to get twenty minutes of sweat-inducing exercise at least three times a week. You don’t necessarily have to run every other day; you could play tennis, or bicycle, or hike. Generally, finding an activity you genuinely enjoy which makes you sweat is the best way to keep your body in shape, as you’re in congruence mentally and physically. The gym is okay, but running for the sake of running can get tiresome, as can lifting for the sake of lifting. But building something with your hands, designing something, or wallpapering a room, or playing a game of paintball that requires running–these things add joy to exercise, and so make it more effective and entertaining.

Curtail Vices

Smoking, drinking, certain pharmaceutical drugs, and a variety of fetishes all compromise your immune system. The more of these you quit, the better your body will function in general, and the less susceptible it will be to the flu and other illnesses over time.

Swimming In Cold Water When Healthy

Be careful with this one; you can get yourself in trouble quick. But when you jump into cold water, it forces your body into a kind of hyperventilation which saturates your blood with oxygen. In the laboratory, breathing in this way has been shown to reduce environmental contaminants and disease. But if you’re in poor health when you attempt learning this breathing method, or the water is too cold, you could hurt yourself.

Vaccination When Fully Healthy

Vaccinations also can help strengthen your immune system, though they must be administered when you’re healthy, not sick, as they introduce an inert form of the pathogen.
