How Do You Know You Have the Flu?

While many people start to worry about the flu during the flu season, there are a handful of things that you need to be aware of. Not only are there many misconceptions about the flu in and of itself, but there are also a lot of questions that are related to the flu but that do not actually encompass it. When it comes to doing whatever is necessary in order to protect yourself from the flu, you have to take all precautions. However, when you start to experience the following symptoms and issues, then you know you could have the actual flu.


While a very vague description of the flu will not actually tell you if you have it or not officially or scientifically, the first step of knowing if you have the flu or not is to realize if what you do have makes you feel miserable. In addition, you will feel an additional amount weakness and fatigue all over the place, and weakness just staying awake throughout the day could be even more of a general problem to fight off if you have the flu. Throw in the symptoms of having a headache, dry cough, and then a sore throat and a runny nose, and you can see why the general symptoms are such a powerful thing to keep people down. It also makes sense why so many are seeking out things like the flu shot.

False Symptoms

Too many people associate the flu with a high fever, chills, and even vomiting. And while those are all potential signs of the flu, you also need to be aware of the fact that those symptoms could occur in and of themselves, and they could also be in a position where they never present themselves even if you do have the flu. Make sure you don’t rely just on a single indicator and understand the big picture of everything.

Serious Issues

Some of the most important symptoms that you will not only want to be aware of, but that you will need to be extremely cautious of as well are the ones that if they do happen then you should seek immediate medical attention. Things like having trouble breathing or experiencing shortness of breath, having dizziness, confusion, or general disorientation are also major problems. And, if you have chest or belly pain or continue to vomit severely then you should be extremely cautious.

What To Do

When you start to develop any of the systems that are listed previously, you should consider seeking professional medical attention. The only way you can actually confirm whether or not you do in fact have a strain of the flu virus is to be checked by a professional. That is why you need to do whatever it takes to be able to find out what you do have as soon as the symptoms do develop. Once you know completely that you are able to verify if you do have the flu, then you can start the healing process.
